My latest project, a different take on a New Home Card. I replicated the ‘Home’ in question using a variety of die cutters, coloured card stock, promarkers, gel pen and glossy accents. This was a labour of love, in particular the brick work. I used the ‘Marianne Design folders extra’ bricks die. To start with, I made repeat cuts into cream card stock and discarded the bricks. I glued the remaining grid (mortar) to another piece of cream card stock. Next I cut the bricks from various shades of brown and terracotta card stock and glued the bricks randomly into the cream grid. To recreate the door, I started with the Xcut Georgian door die set, but the door was not suitable, I did use some of the dies to create the stone section over the top of the door and the door step. I made the door from a plain rectangle die and used my score board to score from the front and back to create the effect of the door panels. To make the windows in the doors, I coloured the two top squares in black marker pen. I then used a silver gel pen to recreate the leaded effect and glossy accents over the top. The House name plaque was made using a plain oval die from a spellbinders nesting set, gold gel pen and glossy accents. To create the hanging baskets, I used a bird cage die cutter and trimmed the die cuts down. To make the box frame, I made a template by copying (& resizing) an old box that had contained Christmas cards, I cut it from 12″ square brown card and used a wood grain stencil and distress inks to simulate the wood effect. The door furniture involved some inventive snipping from various die cuts to achieve the finished results. I completed this project by adding an easel stand to the reverse using the Sizzix Bigz Tim Holtz small easel die and attached the printed greeting sentiments to one side.
Fab card! Looks just like the picture… I would definitely order one of these!
