As you may have gathered by my recent posts, I have a lot of friends who have Special Birthdays this year namely, their 60th’s. Apart from deciding how to make their cards, there is also the question of what to give as a present. One particular friend has everything she needs and I couldn’t think what to get her. So, I came up with the idea of giving her a gift box of handmade cards which she could use for all occaisions. I made 20 cards in total, half female orientated and half male/none gender orientated, I put specific greetings on 5 of each set and them made up lots of extra greetings (with double sided tape on the back)) so that the plain cards could be used for a variety of occasions. I also made lots of inserts (with double sided tape on the back) for various occasions that could be attached into the cards if/when desired. Instead of making a box, I bought a pretty gift box from my local card shop as it was much sturdier than any box I would have made. I made dividers for the box so that the cards, inserts and greetings were easily accessible. And Hey Presto! my present was complete. My friend was delighted with her gift, she said she often gets caught out needing a card at the last minute and will probably end up sending one of them to me for my birthday. I did lots of stamping, inking and spraying for these cards which was a nice change for me as most of my cards involve lots of die cutting. It also gave me a chance to use my new Concord and 9th turnabout stamp which I love (note to self, must get more turnabout stamps soon).
